Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about using Tapalist. Can't find yours? Contact us.

What is Tapalist?

Tapalist is a free list of local events in Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Nevada and Idaho. Pick your state, then your island or region, and see what's happening this weekend, this month, or on a day you choose. Events are posted by people and organizations in the community, and some come from publicly available event calendars. Tapalist does NOT create any events - we only display information posted by the public or information from public sources.

Who is Tapalist for?

It's for YOU! Tapalist is really designed for anyone to use. We do display a lot of large, hosted, corporate or promoted events but we actually really want anyone who wants to plan an publicize and event to post it, public or as a private event, your choice. It could be a scout gathering, religious gathering, family picnic, car club, virtually anything. All are welcome. As you'll find we go beyond most sites because if you click on an event it does everything for you to show all details, share and even navigate not just to the address but even to a 'dropped pin' location if that was provided.

Tapalist does check to keep the site safe from what appear to us to be illegal or improper posts and works continuously to improve those safeguards. If you notice anything suspicious looking please contact us from the site.

Do I need an account to look at events?

No. Anyone can browse, search and share events without signing in. You only need an account to post an event.

Where do I enter my username and password?

We don't use the typical login account method to keep it very simple and fast to use and you only need to enter an email address to obtain a secure access to Tapalist to add or update an event.

How do I add my event?

Click + Add on the home page. The first time, you will be asked to create an account with your first name, last name and email address (a phone number is optional). There is no password to remember: Tapalist emails you a link that signs you in. Then fill in the event details, add a flyer or picture if you like, and submit. Your event appears right away.

Does it cost anything to post an event?

No. Browsing and posting are TOTALLY free.

Which places does Tapalist cover?

Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington, Nevada and Idaho are now available. Each state is split into regions (for Hawaii, the islands) so you can narrow the list to where you are. We're working hard to open Tapalist to all US States and Territories and Canada as fast as we can.

I don't want the public to see or access my event, just my invitees?

Tapalist supports PRIVATE events. When you enter an event you can click 'Private' and it won't display in the list screen. Note the event CODE and provide it to your invitees and they can enter it in the search window and find your event easily.

Can an event repeat?

Yes. When you post a public event you can choose daily, weekly or monthly. Repeats keep the same time. Weekly events repeat on the same day of the week, and monthly events can use either the same date (for example the 15th) or the same weekday (for example the 2nd Tuesday). A repeating event can run for up to 3 months (a daily one for up to 4 weeks), and each member can have up to 3 repeating events running at a time. Repeats are set when you first post the event.

How do I change or cancel my event?

Log in and open My Events. You can edit an event, or cancel it. For a repeating event you can cancel just one date, or choose Cancel this and all future dates.

Who can see my phone number or email?

Only what you choose. Your contact details are shown on an event only if you tick the option to display them when you post it. Your account details are used to run the site and are never sold. See the Privacy Policy.

I found an event with wrong information, or one that looks like spam. What should I do?

Open the event and use the Report option to tell us what is wrong (wrong date, time or location, spam, inappropriate content, or something else). We review reports and can fix or remove listings. You can also contact us.

How accurate are the listings?

Tapalist is a listing site only, not the organizer. Details are entered by people or taken from public calendars and can change, so please confirm the date, time and place with the organizer or venue before you go. See the Terms of Service.

My event is at the park or the beach or another place without an exact locationn. How do I guide people to the right spot?

Tapalist will allow you to paste a dropped pin from Apple or Google maps. Find yourself in your own map window, copy your pin location and paste it into the Event Detail screen. Invitees or anyone interested in your event can navigate right to you or that specific location you specified.

Can I add an event to my calendar or share it?

Yes. Open any event and choose Add to Calendar to download it for your phone or computer calendar, or use the share options to send the link to friends.

How long do events remain on Tapalist?

We delete events approximately 3 days after the listed date of the event. If you have a recurring event you can select that in the Event Details page and it will repeat according to the schedule you set.

How do I delete my account?

Open My Events and use Delete My Account. Your login and profile details are removed. Events you already posted stay on Tapalist but are no longer tied to your account.

Can I advertise on Tapalist?

Yes. There is a homepage banner and an event-detail ad, and you can aim an ad at a whole state, a single region, or everywhere. See the Advertise page for sizes, placements and how to get started.
