Privacy Policy
Tapalist collects the information you provide when creating an account (first name, last name, email, phone) and when submitting an event (event details, optional contact info, optional uploaded image/flyer). We use this information only to operate the events listing and to let you manage the events you submit.
Your phone number and email are only shown publicly on an event listing if you explicitly choose to display them when submitting that event.
Cookies and local storage. Tapalist uses a session cookie to keep you logged in and to protect forms from cross-site request forgery; it's deleted when your browser session ends. If you use the location filters, your last-searched city/island/zip is also remembered in your browser's local storage on that device, purely so the site can restore it on your next visit — this stays on your device and clear it any time via "Clear Filters" or your browser settings. The state you last browsed (just its two-letter code, such as HI) is also kept in a small preference cookie for up to a year, so the page can open on your state straight away; "Clear Filters" removes it too.
Anonymous visit counts. To see how much Tapalist is used, we count page views. This sets no cookie for visitors and stores no IP address: each view is kept with a scrambled visitor code (made from your browser and network details together with a private key and the day's date, so it changes daily and cannot be traced back to you), the page viewed, and which website sent you, if any. These counts are used only in summary reports to the site owner.
We do not sell personal information.
Advertising. Tapalist may show ads served through Google AdSense to help keep the site free to use. If and when ads are displayed, Google, as a third-party vendor, and its advertising partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to Tapalist and other websites. This allows Google and its partners to show you ads they judge relevant to your interests. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising generally by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.
Unwanted messages. When we reach out to promote Tapalist, we write to people individually, and only at business or public contact details they have published themselves. We do not send bulk email or use purchased lists. If you received a message from us that you did not want, please accept our apology for the inconvenience. Tell us through the contact page and we will stop contacting you and add you to our do-not-contact list, normally within 2 business days and never later than 10. We keep only your contact address on that list, so that we do not contact you again.
